Duties:

• Lead team of Directional Drillers and Locators
• Leads and accepts responsibility for the successful completion of field operations
• Run locator for driller
• Locate existing pipes and utilities to clear bore path
• Use locator machine to locate utilities
• Oversee proper set up and tear down of job site
• Complete and submit accurate paperwork back to the office
• Fill out damage reports and submit photos on hits
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Strong leadership skills with a proven track record for team development and employee mentoring capabilities
• Understanding of all underground installation processes
• Strong attention to detail and able to meet deadlines
• Good positive attitude
• 2 years experience running an underground crew
• Valid Class A CDL required to comply with insurance requirements
• Willing to travel

Fierle Underground is a growing company specializing in the installation of underground utilities such as gas, power and communication lines. We are looking to fill a position for a Directional Drill Operator/Locator, responsible for efficiently running a variety of directional drilling equipment and projects in a fast-paced environment.

Operator Duties:

• Operates Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground telecommunications cable conduit, including fiber optic cable
• Operate and maintain a Directional Drill, Vac. Truck, Mud Truck, and Excavator
• Must be able to work around existing utilities, read, understand, and follow company policies and procedures related to safety.
• Performs all duties according to safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment
• Setup and cleanup of work site
• Reads utility locates
• Inspects the work that is in progress to ensure that the workmanship conforms to specifications
• Level ground to final grade specifications
• Performs proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment
• Leads teams in the field effectively and efficiently as needed and directed by supervisor
• Must have a positive attitude

Work to include any or all of the following:

• Exterior Utility Construction
• Site construction
• Digging and shoveling
• Loads, unloads, and identifies construction materials and tools
• Cleans construction sites to eliminate possible hazards along with tools and materials
• Perform operational and preventative maintenance on equipment

Requirements:

• Must have basic knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used onsite
• Good positive attitude
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs
• Ability to work in groups
• Work at a steady pace for extended periods
• Effectively communicate with coworkers
• Task oriented
